No name in Canadian drag racing is more famous than
"240 Gordie" Bonin! From Red Deer Alberta, Bonin's illustrious Funny Car racing career
included six national event wins for Canadian team owner Ron Hodgson during the 1970's and
two wins during the 1990's for Paul Candies & Leonard Hughes. While Bonin gained his fame
driving "fuel floppers" -- he also had seat time in numerous Top Fuel dragsters and in fact won
the FIA European Championship in 1999.
