A testament to the word determination -- Toronto's Jeff Arend
is proof positive that dreams can come true. After first gaining notoriety in the early 1980's driving
his ultra-cool "Bad to the Bone" '48 Fiat -- Jeff set his sights on driving a fuel Funny Car. His
talents were proven quickly and in 1996 joined the names Hawley & Bonin as the only Canadians
ever to win in nitro Funny Car when he scored in Reading, PA. At Pomona's World Finals that
same year he became Canada's first ever 300 mph racer. (Bruce Biegler photos)
