Racing," the bi-weekly newsletter featuring the Landa Pressure Washers Super
Comp Dragsters and Super Gas Corvette Roadsters of Alan and Jason Kenny.
MOTORHOME UPDATE - We picked up the motorhome earlier today, Tuesday,
January 14th. That's just over six months after our deposit. Not bad
considering the original salesman said eight weeks.
Before we left to pick it up, we called to ensure it was ready. They
responded with a 'yes'. Trivia time - When we arrived, we met salesman #4
or 5, I couldn't remember which one he was. Next, did we (a) proceed to the
motorhome, give them their money and take off or (b) wait in the showroom
for 60 minutes because the unit wasn't ready?
Upon our arrival, salesman #4 or 5 says he didn't even know we were coming.
Though very tempted, I refrained from throwing my fist in the direction of
his face. I don't know how they run their business, but I do know a
customer should not be required to call the seven sales/servicemen he has
previously dealt with to announce his arrival.
Anyway, in case you haven't figured it out, we did in fact walk around the
showroom for an hour, staring at the same equipment we saw that last time we
went to pick up our motorhome.
In conclusion, I think it's only appropriate to mention that we found
another missing option, the 'in dash 6-CD changer'. After receiving yet
another refund check, all we can do for our racing friends is recommend you
avoid Alpin Haus altogether. Regis Lepage, one of the nicest racers you'll
ever meet, sells motorhomes for the Motor Home Center, and we wouldn't
hesitate in sending friends to him.
TRAILER UPDATE - It is still collecting dust at T&E. Dad and I will take
the Monaco to Herscher, Illinois sometime in the next two weeks, whenever
fits our schedule best. This will be at least a 3-day adventure in that it
will take one day to drive there, one day to drive home, and minimum one day
at T&E so that they can beef up the hitch.
This coming Monday, we'll be taking our Freightliner back to Crew Chief in
Owen Sound, Ontario for some repairs to the living quarters portion of the
vehicle.
ROADSTERS UPDATE - For the past couple weeks, we have been steadily pecking
away at both cars. Our goal is to build them together. Doing one thing on
the yellow car, and then doing the same to the black one, as opposed to
completing one car before starting the other.
We've got a good chunk of wiring done, but there is still lots to go.
MOTORS UPDATE - We have one of our 505's, Todd, ready to go into the black
roadster. The 505 that is going into Dad's car, Rolly, was found to have a
bad cam upon reassembly. We have ordered a new one from Comp Cams, and are
awaiting its arrival shortly. The 565's for our dragsters are still
undergoing final assembly.
Below is our tentative 2003 Schedule ... including who's driving what, and
where. Unless otherwise mentioned, Dad will drive the yellow dragster and
yellow roadster, while I will drive the black dragster and black roadster.
February 28-March 2 --- IHRA National @ San Antonio, Texas.
March 6-9 --- NHRA Divisional @ Orlando, Florida.
March 13-16 --- NHRA National @ Gainesville, Florida.
April 10-13 --- NHRA Open @ Atco, New Jersey.
April 25-27 --- NHRA National @ Bristol, Tennessee.
May 2-4 --- NHRA Open @ West Lebanon, New York.
- Samantha will drive black dragster and yellow roadster.
May 15-18 --- NHRA National @ Englishtown, New Jersey.
May 22-25 --- NHRA Divisional @ Reading, Pennsylvania.
- Samantha will drive yellow dragster.
May 29-June 1 --- NHRA National @ Chicago, Illinois.
June 6-8 --- NHRA Divisional @ Delmar, Delaware.
- Samantha will drive yellow roadster.
June 19-22 --- NHRA Divisional @ Atco, New Jersey.
- Samantha will drive black dragster and black roadster.
July 3-6 --- NHRA Divisional @ West Lebanon, New York.
July 25-27 --- NHRA Divisional @ Numidia, Pennsylvania.
August 2-3 --- Bracket Race @ Grand Bend, Ontario.
- Samantha will drive yellow roadster in Top Dragster and Super
Pro.
- Dad will drive yellow dragster in Top Dragster.
- Jason will drive black dragster in Top Dragster and black
roadster in Super Pro.
August 8-10 --- NHRA Divisional @ Englishtown, New Jersey.
August 16-17 --- Bracket Race @ Grand Bend, Ontario.
- Samantha will drive yellow roadster in Top Dragster and Super
Pro.
