NEW E.C.W. CAR!

The hugely popular Can-Am Pro Modified team comprised of Canada's Carl Spiering and U.S.-based racers Dave and Mike Persico will have a new car in 2001.

The team will take delivery shortly of a L&J-chassied '57 Chevy-bodied car. Driver Carl Spiering confirms that the team will limit it's IHRA national events this season to mostly the northern dates and run some CDRS races. The team is particularly excited about NHRA's announcement that Pro Mod cars will be running exhibition eliminators at five national events this season.

Look for Spiering/Persico Bros to run some of those -- likely beginning at Atlanta but most importantly racing at the U.S. Nationals at Indianapolis!

Primary team sponsor E.C.W. (Extreme Championship Wrestling) will be back for their second season with the team. Keep tuned to Dragracecanada.com for a first look at this exciting new car....

ENTER MIKE ETTER!

Canada's alcohol Funny Car racing scene will grow by one more in 2001 when Ontario's Mike Etter joins the class ranks. Etter, who's drag racing background is extensive at both Eastern and Western Canadian drag strips has acquired the last FMFC operation raced by Paton Racing before they went nitro (the burgundy Optima Firebird).

Etter made a couple of test laps in the car at West Palm Beach in Florida in late November and is now looking forward to the 2001 racing season which will see him run some twenty events. Etter's racing operation will include both NHRA and IHRA motor combinations. Mike Etter will be based from Waterdown, Ontario which coincidently is also home to Dragracecanada.com!
