BEFORE & AFTER

Canada's Brad Matheson has an auspicious debut during the IHRA Mopar Parts Canadian Nationals with his fantastic new '55 Chevy Top Sportsman car. On only it's second run ever Matheson's machine flipped over right off the starting line. Matheson is convinced the car picked up something on the track which unloaded the tire and sent him sideways. Thankfully nothing more then Brad's pride and pocketbook were injured and he vows to rebuilt and return later this season. Check out that brave photographer! TWO MORE WHEELS

One of Western Canada's top motorcycle drag racers, Rod Clough has stepped up to Top Comp Funny Car racing for the year 2000. Clough, who is from Surrey, BC made his debut driving the CAA/Valvoline-sponsored Olds Cutlass during the recent NHRA FMDRS event at Mission Raceway. He ran high six seconds and over 200 mph with ease.

INSTANT FAVORITE

Scott Wildgust's wild new 2000 Prowler-bodied Top Dragster was an instant fan favorite during the Inaugural IHRA Mopar Parts Canadian Nationals. Featuring a supercharged Atchison-machine built 510 CID Chevy motor -- Wildgust ran as quick as 6.66 secs his first time out in national event competition. The Stratford, ON-based racer was also bestowed the event's prestigious "Best Appearing Sportsman Car" and the Drag Review "Editors Choice Award". HEMI FANS REJOICE!

Canada has a new SS/AA HemiCuda! Mark Roelofs, from Toronto unveiled his promising new entry during the IHRA Mopar Parts Canadian Nationals. The car features a chassis by none other then F.J. Smith. Sponsorship comes from QEW/427 Chrysler. Roelofs expects to run in the high eight seconds zone once new car bugs are worked out. GEARING UP

Western Canada has a couple of new look Federal Mogul Dragster teams for 2000. Leo Grocock (top) who is from Mission BC, has taken over David Trimble's operation and will run that car under the Northwest Drag Racing School banner. David Brown, from Vernon, BC is a new player on the scene with his justpinit.com sponsored dragster. Both teams have shown good progress so far.
