NEW WILD RIDE

Claude Beaulieu, from Rivière-du-loup Quebec will soon present an upgraded version of his fan favorite "Wild Ride" -- 1967 Canso. This new great looking car is now built around a double framerail (chrome moly) chassis with a funny car cage, with strut front suspension and four links in the back. The body will still be an original steel 67 Canso with original bumpers. The power will come from a low compression alcohol burning 496 cu. in. B.B. Chevy with 10-71 BDS blower, Pro 1 Dart heads, MSD 10 "fire" and a Dedenbear powerglide transmission. Beaulieu is expecting (if everything goes as planned) to burn some rubber at "La Piste d'accélération Pont-Rouge" the first week-end of August with his new AA/BAD car (Blown Alcohol Doorslammer). (Submitted by Charles Stewart) **For a quick look at Beaulieu's wild machine -- check out Dragracecanada's Media subsection - click on Cool Canadian Cars #2...

KARDIAC KORVETTE!

The "Kardiac Kid" himself Larry Dobbs debuted Canada's first C-5 bodied alcohol Funny Car during last weekend's IHRA Carquest Empire Nationals at New York Raceway. The car which is in fact owned by Hamilton-based Pro Mod racer Larry Sinke was a DNQ largely due to new car blues and weather abbreviated qualifying. Sportz Truck Tents will sponsor the machine which will run the balance of the 2000 IHRA tour. (Photo courtesy of Steve Embling)

SLICK PIECE

Saskatchewan's Harvey and David From were on hand at last weekend's Mopar Mile-High Nationals in Denver with their new Neil & Parks built A/EA. Driver Harvey From drove the 304 CID Chevy-powered machine in Competition eliminator and qualified 19th with a strong 8.27 secs in the thin air. He had a red-light foul start to Bill Kent in round one.

SUPER STREET STUNNER

Toronto's Mike Yedagarian made Canadian track debut with his fantastic new Smith Performance Specialties-built 2000 Firebird during last weekends WWF Can-Am Nationals at St. Thomas. How did things go? -- not bad -- Mike only won the event -- first time out! The nitrous-injected Firebird is built to all NMCA legal Super Street (10.5 inch tire) standards. It is also the first venture ever into the Super Street scene for F.J.. Look for a team profile on Mike Yedagarian to be posted in Dragracecanada in the very near future.
