Ontario's Mike Mahon, has confirmed a revolutionary new drag racing project
for his team. The former NHRA Pro Stock Truck racer has begun construction
on what will be a drag racing first -- a 2001 Jaguar XKR Coupe! Powered
by a 814 CID John Kaase motor -- Mahon's machine will be run in IHRA Top
Sportsman as well as local Ontario Quick 8/Pro Modified. The car is currently
under construction at L&J Race Cars (in Hamilton). Joe Van Overbeek will
assemble the body. Mahon reports that Jaguar Canada is extremely excited
about his new venture and have anted up various body parts and pieces.
Mahon's "Jag" is expected to be completed in January 2001 and will be
tested in Florida or Texas prior to it's official IHRA circuit debut at
the season-opening event in Rockingham NC (March 29-Apr. 1st). Keep watching
