NITROUS ALTERED . . .
. . . Don Pocock, from Port Hope, ON., has returned to the Canadian drag racing scene with a sparkling new 23T Altered. Pocock’s machine features a L&J chassis and a nitrous-oxide fed 565 CID Gerald Anderson motor. Pocock is planning CDRS Quick 8 and IHRA Top Dragster in 2000.

STEPPING UP . . .
. . .Brampton’s Mark Neilsen, regarded as one of Canada’s top Pro Modified racing prospects has confirmed that he will build a supercharged 2000 Camaro for next season to replace his "Quick Fix" Chevy Lumina. Neilsen will run the car in IHRA Top Sportsman and in CDRS Pro Mod. Fans will get their first peek at the new machine during this winters Performance World Car Show

WESTERN PREVIEW . . .
. . .British Columbia school teacher Dean Key, an automotive technician instructor at the University College of the Fraser Valley in Abbotsford B.C., has purchased the wild-looking Testarossa that was formally campaigned by Glenn Freeman. Key, who is also a crew member to Freeman, will use that machine to help introduce his grade 11 and 12 high school students to the drag racing scene. Instead of an alcohol burning supercharged engine, Key and his students will campaign the car with a normally aspirated big block and a powerglide transmission. High school drag racers are restricted to ET’s no quicker then 12.00 secs. In a related announcement Freeman himself will enhance his Pro Mod racing efforts in 2000 with a spanking new machine which is currently under construction. Look for that to be supercharged and either a ‘55 or ‘57 Chevy

CHANGE IN DIRECTION . . .
. . . The formidable Canadian-American racing team of Dave & Mike Persico (Orchard Park NY) and Carl Spiering (Jordan Station, ON) have confirmed that they will go to a supercharged motor in their Camaro in 2000. The change is a radical one for car owner Dave Persico who has run nothing but nitrous-injected engines thoughout his 10+ colourful years of drag racing. Spiering, who is the team driver, has been charged with developing the new engine program. Spiering is no stranger to that type of powerplant -- the team will be players in CDRS Pro Mod action next summer.
