ALL PUMPED UP . . .
. . . The Can-Am Pro Modified team of Carl Spiering (Jordan Station, ON) and Dave & Mike Perscio (Orchard Park NY) are on the verge of signing major sponsorship for the year 2000. A deal in principle has been reached with fast rising New York City based professional wrestling organization E.C.W. (Extreme Championship Wrestling) to sponsor their supercharged Camaro for the full IHRA and CDRS tour next season. Final confirmation should come early in the new year. The Toyz Shop Motorsports/Perscio Bros/E.C.W. team will be flashy -- sporting a new paint scheme and uniforms. Pace American trailers has also stepped up their involvement with the potent new team which was first formed in 1999. They will open the 2000 season with their tried and true ‘67 Camaro (converted to supercharged) however fans can expect a brand new car by mid year.

TEST MODE . . .
. . . The latest news from Windsor-area IHRA Mountain Motor Pro Stock racers Larry and Wayne O’Brien has them producing some impressive pulls on the dyno for the 2000 season. The formidable team basically sat out the 1999 season to concentrate along with engine builder Gary St. Denis, on a new generation 815 CID Hemi engine for their Dodge Avenger Pro Stock car. The IHRA legalized that motor for competition in 1999. The team did make a couple of test runs in late 1999 (at Cayuga International) with the new engine/car combo where they hit conservative but promising 6.92 and 6.93 secs elapsed times. “We knew this was going to take some time but we decided we didn’t want to go out and race until we could run up with the pack,” said Larry O’Brien, owner and operator of Bear’s Performance, the team’s primary sponsor. Wayne O’Brien’s company --Dual Electrical -- will also provide team financing. Look for the revolutionary new car to debut at IHRA’s season-opening Winter Nationals at Darlington SC in March.
