Toronto Motorsports Park played host to the final event for the Ontario Street Car Association (Sep. 20-21st). The weather was perfect as the racers made there way back to the track after the event eliminations had been rained out the previous week. The staff at TMP had the track surface set up perfect to handle the wheels up 200+MPH action.
The Outlaw cars took full advantage of the track condition and cool air. Dave Tomasino of Holley NY Qualified his 69 Camaro #1 with a on/off then on again pass of 6.80 at 207 mph but had something let loose in the rear end on a single in round #1. Randy Jewel, from Rochester NY brought his beautiful 2000 Vette back and joined the 6-secs club running back-to-back 6.99 secs runs, both at just under 200mph. Terry Brown stayed consistently fast through out the event to put his gorgeous 71 Challenger in the winners circle with a 6.89 secs @ 207mph beating out Luc Quiern from Oakville Ont., in the finals. Congratulations to Terry and his crew who finished in the top spot in final OSCA season points.
Ray Sanchez of Toronto dominated the Super Street class as he met up with the wheelstanding 89 Mustang of Jim Marshall in the finals. Marshall carried the wheels on his way to an 8.33 but the Pro Charger 67 Camaro of Sanchez overpowered him running 7.61 secs at 188 mph to take the event win and points championship in Super Street.
Rocky Dilecce from Woodbridge Ont., had the best seat in the house behind the wheel of his 1969 Chevelle to witness the wild wheelstand of Sandra Grella in the final of EZ Street. Sandra rode out a nasty wheelstand but wasn't able to keep it from crossing the centre line so she handed the win to Rocky who wisely let off when Grella took out the timing cones in the middle of the track. To everyones surprise Sandra got back in it and ran a 10.50 secs at 140 mph. Earlier Sandra drove her Mustang Parts Warehouse sponsored 89 Mustang to a record-breaking 8.19 secs and then also walked away with the OSCA points championship in EZ Street.
Wade Stevens took the win in True Street with his LS1 powered 98 Camaro. Stevens, who is from Whitby Ont., ran 8.57 secs @ 164mph to beat Rocco Cerullo who's 89 Mustang lit the cherry on his way to an 8.67 secs at 159mph. Chad Stevens won Street Eliminator with his 302 powered 89 Mustang running 10.08 secs at 137mph.
