Exclusive First Peek -- "Big Dog's" New Beast!
Bruce Biegler - February 28, 2004
Canadian Pro Mod class star Carl "Big Dog" Spiering will take dead aim at the competition in 2004 when he unleases his new "Road Warrior III" '63 Corvette.
Spiering's new ride is in fact the very same car that builder Tim McAmis took to a stunning 6.084 secs at Englishtown last season.....
Ultimate Power Trip Preview -- 2004
Eaton Electrical is pleased to announce that Carl Spiering and the Road Warrior III crew will once again be back for another year of high speed drama and entertainment. Spiering, driving Road Warrior III, the '57 Chevy Pro Modified, finished the 2003 campaign with a personal best "Top 13" finish in IHRA point standings. He also laid claim to his very first IHRA Pro Mod National win at The President's Cup event at Maryland, D. C. Spiering (based out of Jordan Station, Ontario) will be competing in 13 events across Canada and parts of the U.S. for the 2004 season.
"Once again, The Ultimate Power Trip program has surpassed all expectations and provided Eaton Electrical with unprecedented profile with respect to our branding efforts" said Clayton Tychkowsky, General Manager, Eaton Electrical (Canadian Operations). "The Ultimate Power Trip continues to allow us to build important relationships with our customers while educating and exposing them to our products and services - not only at the tracks but at Eaton Electrical facilities and its Distributor events as well."
Looking back on 2003 Carl Spiering said, "We loved the '57 Chevy and after three years of racing in it, the Cutler-Hammer Pro Mod became by far one of the most recognized cars by the fans in Drag Racing. But I recognized that to seriously compete, the Chevy's aerodynamics just wasn't going to allow me to compete consistently amongst the best in Pro Mod. It seems that no matter what we did, we seemed stuck in the 30's. I'm absolutely committed to Eaton Electrical and its Ultimate Power Trip program for 2004. Eaton Electrical has made an investment in me and I'm expected to perform and to succeed. With that in mind we've made a major change to the program for 2004."
Carl "the big dog" Spiering, is set to unleash this pretty ride from coast to coast and into the deep south in support of Eaton Electrical's Ultimate Power Trip tour.
This '63 Corvette is the car that Tim McAmis so successfully campaigned over the last two seasons and is one of the very few cars to dip into the 0-zone in legal trim. A true testament to the car and its builder.
Pace American continues its support of Eaton Electrical and Carl Spiering with the promise of a new trailer for 2004, to debut at the Canadian IHRA Nationals at Grand Bend.
Explained Spiering, "Tim McAmis is one of the most respected car racers and builders in the sport. Tim competed in the last IHRA event in Rockingham last season and he let it be known that his car was up for sale. I spoke with Tim and we struck a deal. I sold the '57 Chevy and put myself in a position to purchase the new Corvette. Essentially I purchased what's called the rolling chassis which includes the body, chassis and wheels. I've taken the engine(s) and the transmission out of the '57 Chevy and put them in the Corvette and made the necessary mechanical modifications. We're all set and we're extremely anxious to begin testing prior to the start of the season."
"The Ultimate Power Trip of 2003 provided us with a vehicle with which to reach almost 4,000 customers" said Steve Boccadoro, National Marketing Manager for Eaton Electrical. "We're excited about the new car in many ways. Not only do we expect Carl to build upon 2003, but this beautiful car creates a "fresh" look with regards to our Marketing efforts. We expect that our Customers, existing and new, will be anxious to see the new Road Warrior III Pro Mod at the various Distributor and facility events and that these events will continue to draw well and enhance our branding efforts."
Beginning in April, The Ultimate Power Trip of 2004 will log in excess of 20,000km's and compete in 13 Canadian and US events including 10 IHRA National events. Canadian events include the IHRA Nationals in Grand Bend, Edmonton and Toronto (Cayuga).
