Long time friend to Canadian drag racing, Brian Wood, has received some much overdue recognition and has been newly appointed at the Editorial Director for IHRA's in-house publication, Drag Review Magazine. The former resident of Tillsonburg, Ontario, recently assumed his new position after relocating to the IHRA's headquarters in Norwalk Ohio.

Wood, who is a well-respected, talented and dedicated writer and photographer has over many seasons seen his work in publications including Hot Rod, Car Craft, Drag Review Magazine, Fastest Street Car, Extreme Australia, Australian Drag Racing, Dragster Australia, Adrenalin, RPM/Street Shootout, Sportsman Drag Racing, and Pontiac High Performance magazines, and on numerous Internet drag racing sites.

Wood began his career in 1996 as track photographer at London Motorsports Park and served as drag racing editor for Inside Track Motorsports News in Toronto. In 1999 he began working full-time for internet publication CompetitionPlus.com, becoming editor in 2002 and editorial director in 2005. He also served as web editor and photographer for the National Street Car Association between 2003 and 2005 and joined the staff of 1320 TV.com as videographer, video editor, and web editor in 2006.

Wood is looking forward to the new challenges and opportunities associated with taking Drag Review Magazine to the next level.

"DRM has undergone a major facelift over the past year, and I think there's a ton of potential there," he stated. "We're also talking about further improving the physical appearance, going with a better stock, adding posters or pull-outs, and doing more with photo extras -- We have a lot a great ideas."

Official IHRA Release:

The International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) announced Brian Wood has been named Editorial Director of their in-house publication, DRM.

Wood will report directly to Managing Editor Pam Marchyshyn and be responsible for the editorial and photo content of DRM and assisting with the integration of IHRA print, internet and public relations interests.

“I’m pleased to announce the addition of Brian to the DRM team,” stated Marchyshyn. “Brian is well respected in the drag racing industry and the perfect person to lead DRM’s editorial direction.

“His appointment allows me to focus on the production and financial aspects of DRM, areas that demand my full attention. Brian’s addition is about growth and expansion,” Marchyshyn added.

DRM recently went to full-color printing and changed format to a newsstand size periodical.

“I’m looking forward to the challenges and rewards of working with the entire DRM team,” stated Wood. “Editorially and graphically there are big plans ahead. I’m proud to be part of the energetic IHRA, DRM and Live Nation team.”

Wood replaces Mike Perry, who now serves as IHRA Director of Media and Public Relations.
