Calgary's Mostowich Wins NHRA Seattle
Bruce Biegler - July 27, 2007
Alberta's Ken Mostowich earned a huge victory during last weekend's rain plagued NHRA Schuck's Auto Parts Nationals at Seattle. The talented driver prevailed during Monday's rain-deferred Sportsman action taking top honors in the Super Comp 8.90 category.
Mostowich, who qualified 8th, defeated a very tough field of cars winning no less then seven grueling rounds of competition. In the championship final round his 8.906 secs at 176.84 mph toppled opponent Dale Green who ran a losing 8.921 secs at 177.26 mph.
Ken's victory came driving his Moss Fabrication-sponsored Chevy Cavalier, a rather rare victory by a "doorslammer" within the rear-engined dominated Super Comp class.
The win was in fact Mostowich's 2nd career NHRA national event title. He had previously won at Pomona's AAA Auto Club Finals in 2004 behind the wheel of his familiar Super Gas Corvette roadster.
