Manitoba Bull Moose Sighting!
Bruce Biegler - March 5, 2008
One of the most respected up-and-coming Canadian Pro Modified drivers is poised for the 2008 racing season with a fresh new look and enhanced race car.
Manitoba’s Kenny Lang, who finished 6th in final IHRA World points last season, is the latest addition to the fast evolving NitroMoose Motorsports team, an associate company to DragRaceCanada.com.
In addition to a spectacular new paint scheme that was designed by Stu Wotpyka (ID Motorsports Design) and applied by Lang himself (Kenny Lang Auto Body), the potent supercharged Corvette has also undergone some serious mechanical upgrades including the latest and greatest technology offerings from Al Billes.
“The past off season was anything but a period of inactivity for us,” said Lang. “After we got back from Las Vegas last fall the car has been worked on for 4-5 days per week ever since. Everything on the car came apart and it now has a whole bunch of upgrades. I’m pleased that Al Billes will be even a bigger part of our team then even last year. He is finishing up our motor on his dyno right now. We will definitely be coming out of the gate with more HP this season.”
The upcoming 2008 racing season will mark Lang’s 5th year on the Pro Mod circuit. After running only sporadic dates the first three years, he rode to prominence last season, winning the highly prestigious Torco Race Fuels Pro Mod Shootout event last July and collected a couple of low qualifiers and event runner-up finishes in IHRA racing. That taste of success has fueled high optimism about his team this season.
“We’ve come a long way in a short period of time,” Kenny added. “We missed a “top 5” finish in IHRA World points by only one round last year. We have not been able to win a national event just yet – but I think that is just around the corner from happening. We feel that now with the right race car and crew – we are fully capable.”
Lang confirmed that his team’s primary focus will be on the 2008 IHRA Pro Mod World Championship. That full-season pursuit will begin following some pre-season testing at Houston in late March. Time permitting; the team also hopes to participate at a couple of Jegs ProMod Challenge events in NHRA.
Lang is the newest addition to the multi-car NitroMoose Motorsports team which is morphing this season to include some new participants. Additional significant announcements on that front will be coming in the near future.
