Ramped Up Renegades!
Bruce Biegler - May 5, 2008

That formidable Alberta-based Can-Am TAFC equation owned by Geoff Goodwin has escalated things rather nicely for the 2008 drag racing season.

In recent weeks, Goodwin and his skilled driver Ken Kraus (from Montana) have debuted their newest entry, a Brad Hadman-chassied Chevrolet Monte Carlo. For Geoff Goodwin, who was inducted into the Canadian Motorsports Hall of Fame in Toronto last January, the new Chevy is just the latest in a long line of successful Funny Cars that he has been involved with during his impressive career.

"During the past couple of seasons we came very close to winning some very big races," Goodwin said. "I felt that we needed this upgrade to keep pace with the class and in order to keep knocking on that door. This car has the latest top of the game everything."

Geoff revealed that he in fact acquired the car towards the end of last season from a U.S.-based racer. It had about 10-12 runs on it.

"The new chassis has a higher roll cage which should help Ken Kraus see over the injector better," he added. "Our crew chief Wally Protz made some great progress with our motor program during 2007 (526 Brad Anderson) so we are just going to continue on with that."

Goodwin was also pleased that his valued primary sponsor, Synoil, have elected to extend their association with the team for 2008. "Our new agreement is bigger and better -- we work very well together," he added.

While the team has announced it's primary focus will be on the NHRA LODRS in the West they will do a motor swap in order to be able to compete during the IHRA's Rocky Mountain Nationals at Edmonton next July.
