First Look - New Nemeth Nostalgia Car!
Bruce Biegler - July 3, 2009
Western Canadian racing fans attending the West Coast Pro Modified Association event at Mission Raceway last weekend received an extra bonus.
They were treated to the first appearance of the '69 Mustang Nostalgia Nitro Funny Car owned and operated by Tim Nemeth from Chilliwack BC.
With the assistance of veteran tuner Gordon Jenner, the first run ever on the car was an eventful one, indeed, as the Alky Funny Car vet ran it all the way through to a good 6.38 / 225 – and then ran it into the sand trap when the parachutes failed to deploy. Damage to the car was limited to a couple of cracks in the front spoiler, and Nemeth knew how lucky he was.
The car should be ready to go again the last weekend of July, for the big National Open Nostalgia Funny Car show back at Mission. Expectations are the upwards of 30 old-style floppers will be on the premises.
