SHANNONVILLE MOTORSPORTS PARK DRAGWAY TOUR DATES CONFIRMED SEPT 12-14

2008 will mark the 3rd. year in a row that the Benson Auto Parts Show Me the Money Tour will have rolled into Shannonville Motorsports Park Dragway, and from all accounts most everyone is very pleased about that. The small independent drag strip that is located just east of Belleville, Ontario is a very popular stop on a very popular and very rich drag racing series. Shannonville which has a long and great relationship with Luskville Dragway, the home base for the Benson Tour, goes back to the days when there where different owners at the Park and right up until this day when Jean Gauthier a Montreal area business man has owned and operated the track. Situated right on the 401 just west of Kingston and a little east of Belleville makes for one of the best locations for any race track, and that has shown with the great car count each year. The drag strip portion of the facility only runs six regular drag racing events plus the Tour Show, but the area is ripe with drag racers a tradition that goes back to the early days of drag racing in Ontario and in fact Canada. You see "Mohawk Dragway" which was located on the airport just down the street from Shannonville was once considered the biggest thing in drag racing in Canada, with many of the biggest names in the drag racing world making a stop there at one time or another. In the early days of drag racing as it expanded to tracks like Cayuga, Sanair, Georgetown and Luskville the contingent of very strong drag racers out of the Belleville, Kingston area was always strong. And yes many of those people are still around to this day, with some of them still drag racing and some even competing in the Benson Tour Event that takes place at Shannonville Motorsports Park Dragway. So mark these dates on your calendar if NHRA drag racing is your pleasure. We would like to also inform everyone that camping on the grounds for spectators will be allowed, and special feature attractions will also be part of this event like past years.
