Grand Bend Honors '07 Track Champions

Ontario's Grand Bend Motorplex completed it's 13th season of racing in 2007. In addition to a highly successful 8th Annual edition of the IHRA Mopar Canadian Nationals, the year featured continued ferocious local competition as well as some dominating class performances.
"We had some more of the same level of excellent competition that we’ve come to expect from our members here at GBM," said Track General Manager Ron Biekx. "We also had standout rookies who shook things up a bit."
A major development during the 2007 season was a newly resufaced race track which. That enhancement started to show some serious dividends by the time the Labour Day rolled around.
"A lot of people don’t realize it takes some time for a consistent ‘carpet’ layer of thin rubber to really develop in order to have first class bite from the starting line to the finish line," Biekx explained. "Our new surface is now almost there."
Grand Bend Motorplex is presently focused on a more racer friendly schedule for 2008 to reflect the time and financial commitments of their customers. That new schedule will be announced shortly.
Track Management looks forward to honoring all it's Champions during a Banquet on January 26th -- at the Lamplighter Inn in London.
"That function gives us a chance to get dressed up a bit and spend time together without the pressure of elimination rounds," added Biekx.
