Georges and Michelle Levesque have remained a popular staple with drag racing fans in Eastern Ontario and the province of Quebec for many seasons. The independent team, which stays close to their home base in the Ottawa area (Vars ON) for the most part, continues to field some of the coolest cars in Canadian drag racing history. Their latest acquisition is no exception.

During early 2007 the team took delivery of a spectacular new Ford Mustang built by Jerry Bickel. Powered by an 815 CID Jon Kaase motor the car is in fact fully legal for IHRA Pro Stock competition. Last year Levesque made some limited test runs in the car at Sanair International Raceway. To date Levesque has not entered the car in IHRA Pro Stock however that fact may change this coming season.

"To be honest drag racing is more of a hobby and my first priority is for work at my company," said Levesque who owns and operates Giant Tire Specialties. "After we took delivery of the car we needed some time and space to work the car out and Sanair proved to be a perfect place for that. Our desire is certainly to come to one of the IHRA events in Canada this season -- the race at TMP is the most likely. We have had some contact with the Konigshofer Brothers who have offered to help us out."

The team, which is a huge fan favorite because of it's mongo pre-run burnouts, will also see scheduled action a Sanair and Napierville drag strips this season.

Levesque's new Mustang is the latest in a long line of Ford drag racing vehicles that has spanned over 20 years. Earlier in his career he ran a Maverick and then a Ford Thunderbird (that was formerly owned by Bob Glidden) before racing two other Mustangs. His previous car, a 2000 model, has been sold to Western Canadian racer Garth Dreger (Brooks AB).

"We've always raced Fords," Georges confirmed. "I wanted to try to keep up with the latest equipment as best as I can and we've got this car working quite well. It's the best ride I've ever had."

Georges and Michelle's new Mustang has a very cool "Boss" look to it with signature white paint and blue accent.
