Performance Improvements Drag Racing Team Ready For 2008 Assault!
CANFIELD, ONTARIO (April 21, 2008) The southern Ontario drag racing team of Ted & Bill Barnes are returning to the strip in 2008. Heading into their 22nd year of competition, the team plans to focus mainly on the International Hot Rod Association’s (IHRA) 10.90 Hot Rod class of racing in 2008. “We’re going to run the entire Joe’s Transmission TNT Super Series in addition to the IHRA events at Toronto Motorsports Park and Grand Bend Motorplex,” said Ted. “You might also see us at various events at Toronto Motorsports Park where we do most of our testing.”
Ted & Bill have spent the past couple of seasons sorting out a new engine combination. Running 10.90 races as often as possible, they needed a bit more power. “The new combination gave us the power we needed but meant all our data was useless. We had to start over from scratch,” added Ted. Two seasons later, they had it pretty much figured out. Then they had a chance to try Hoosier drive tires. “With the Hoosier’s the car is extremely repeatable in both ET and reaction time. And we’re pleased with the wear pattern as well,” commented Bill (aka The Official Clapper of the IHRA).
The team just finished an extensive overhaul of the entire drivetrain in the unique 1972 Datsun 510 racecar. “We believe in a thorough maintenance program. So everything in the drivetrain was torn down, inspected and re-assembled,” explained Bill.
The team’s first race of the season will be Sunday April 27th at Dunn Tire Raceway Park in Lancaster, NY.
