Quality Plus Team Focused on Rebound
Denise Ramsey - September 11, 2008
Following their surprising DNQ during the recent NHRA Mac Tools U.S. Nationals, the Ontario-based Quality Plus Compressors-sponsored Pro Modified team is looking to rebound.
The team, which features skilled driver Tony Pontieri at the helm, now sits 2nd in season Jegs Pro Mod Challenge points standings with three events remaining on the 2008 calendar.
"Everyone's asking me if I'm panicking about losing the points lead and I'm really not," Pontieri said. "We just had some little gremlins during qualifying but I know we'll be fine. We have a great race team over here. I think everyone else is way more worried about us than we are."
Sometimes a team can have a bad race, and not have it affect their chance to win a championship. That's what this was for us, just a bump in the road. We look forward to going to Dallas and making up lost ground in the points. We have three races to go and the desire to move forward.
"I just want to turn on win lights; the best thing is for me to get to the next race early and try to qualify well and put Indy behind us. I'm ready for this. I've never felt more ready to race in my life. The pressure is not on me, it's on everyone else to move up higher in the points. I'm second I am still in a great position the heat is off, now we just need consistency. "Said Pontieri
Global Emissions Systems Inc. has signed on as a new sponsor for the team of Tony Pontieri and Rob Sporring. Global Emissions Systems Inc. (GESi®), based in Whitby, Ontario is a Canadian corporation that has developed world leading technology which significantly reduces poisonous greenhouse gases from combustion engines burning commercially available fuel, including gas, alcohol, diesel, natural gas, and propane applications.
GESi® technology is dramatically more effective than existing catalytic converters. This new technology reduces health risks from toxic greenhouse gases by reducing or virtually eliminating carbon monoxide (CO), hydrocarbons (HC) and nitrogen oxides (NOX) from combustion engine emissions.
GESi® technology is currently mounted on forklifts, heavy diesel trucks, road graders, lawnmowers, light trucks, automobiles, generators, all-terrain vehicles, golf carts and propane welders.
We are excited to have Global Emissions Systems Inc. as a new sponsor. GESi®'s presence will help take our team to a new level in the racing by increasing environmental awareness within our sport. It shows one of the ways we are committed to environmental innovation within the racing industry.
We will be retrofitting our entire fleet, including our golf carts and generators with this technology, and Global Emissions Systems Inc. is currently conducting testing with another Pro Mod. We hope to have our 1957 Chevy Bel Air equipped with GESi® technology for the 2009 racing season. For more information check out: http://www.gesi.us/
