Mike Yedgarian is regarded as one of Canada's top racers in the NMCA Super Street (10.5 inch tire) category. Yedgarian came on to the drag racing scene in 1994 with a street legal 1968 Camaro. That machine received a number of upgrades over the years and evolved into one of Canada's fastest and winningest class cars. Yedgarian has won a number of Super Street titles in Canada and in the USA, including "Super Chevy" event wins at Indianapolis and Norwalk. His first career "seven" came in only his third event at Montgomery, Alabama and his first career win came during the NMCA event in St. Louis in 2002.
In the year 2000 Yedgarian debuted what is arguably one of the highest tech Super Street class cars ever conceived. Yedgarian's 2000 Pontiac Firebird was in fact constructed by award winning Canadian Sportsman chassis builder F.J. Smith -- his first venture ever into the Super Street class.
Power comes from a Fast Times Motorsports 445 CID all aluminum short deck Chevy engine which features Dart heads and a Fel-Pro injection system. Single stage nitrous-oxide injection (through the ports), a single 4-barrel carburetor and a custom sheet metal intake manifold are used. Yedgarian's engine produces an estimated 1100-1200 HP through the class required mufflers. Power is applied through a 5-speed Liberty transmission, to a 9" rear end. The car is fully legal for NMCA competition at 7.5 lbs per cubic inch.
Team funding comes primarily from Yedgarian's self-owned Aamco Transmissions facilities which are located in Mississauga and North York, ON. Associate sponsorship is proved by Fast Times Motorsports (Chuck Samuels), Smith Performance Specialties (Cayuga, ON), Carwell (Toronto) and Ron Michael Angelo Construction.
