Father and son Frank and Gianni Cantusci are regarded as one of Eastern Canadas most successful Super Stock racing teams. Frank Cantusci has been active on the Canadian drag racing scene since the early 1960s and Gianni Cantusci has been drag racing since he obtained his drivers license at age 16. The team has built on its reputation for hard running Super Stock Camaros and Firebirds that have won numerous NHRA and IHRA events and set national records.
Gianni Cantusci has four IHRA national event wins to his credit including Cayugas Summer Nationals (1992), Eppings North American Nationals (1993) Grand Bends Mopar Canadian Nationals (2000) and the Inaugural AC Delco Canadian Nationals (at Toronto Motorsports Park) in 2002. On the NHRA tour, the Cantusci team highlight reel includes holding some NHRA class records as well as a Super Stock victory during the prestigious Dutch Classic, at Reading PA in 1997.
Gianni Cantusci drives the teams 2000 Pontiac Firebird. That is an FJ Smith prepared car powered by a 327 CID 250 HP engine which Frank and Gianni built themselves. The team utilizes a Lunati camshaft, crankshaft and pistons. Hooker headers and Edelbrock intake and carburetor are also employed. The transmission and converter are ATI and rear tires are Mickey Thompson. The team also campaigned for a time a second car -a 1990 model Camaro which had been driven by Frank or Willy Kovacs and run in GT/KA trim.
Funding for Cantusci racing comes primarily from their family business: Frank Cantusci Enterprises. Valuable associate sponsorship comes from the good people at Karbelt, Franco Bar & Grill, Finater, as well as Dezs Paint Shop (Greeley) who expertly applied the paint and lettering.
