CUSTODIOS RACING TEAM campaigns one of Canada's quickest and fastest Super Street/Outlaw Street 10.5 inch tire cars. The team debuted on the racing scene after meticulous construction of their 1969 Camaro was completed over a two year period (1998-99). The in-house designed chassis was fabricated and then assembled by Ultimate Custom Race Cars (Ajax, ON). The team campaigned the car in legal NSCA Super Street trim during the 2000 season weighing 3300 lbs and using a 615 CID nitrous injected engine for power. For 2001 the team introduced a second engine to their racing equation -- an all aluminium 598 CID Donovan engine. Team engine builder Nick Agostino (Agostino Racing Engines) expertly assembled both motors. The team employs Pro-System Carburetion, Big Chief Pontiac cylinder heads and custom fabricated 3-step exhaust headers. The Camaro features a reliable 2-speed powerglide transmission by Marty Vanin (Woodbridge, ON)
Despite being a relative newcomer to the fast Street Car racing scene driver Luis Custodio has quickly established a reputation for running hard and being competitive. He has numerous late round finishes to his credit in local Ontario shootout events as well as an impressive performance during last season's World Street Car Nationals in Orlando, Florida.
At that event, the team recorded it's first ever seven second time slip. Custodios Racing Team was recognized in an impressive four page spread in the February 2001 issue of Popular Hot Rodding Magazine.
The team plans to remain extensively active on the NSCA and OSCA racing circuits as well as attending all the local Street Car Shootout programs at St. Thomas Dragway. The team prides itself in it's family orientation and actively invites the racing public to it's pit area for hands on interaction.
Sponsorship comes from Agostino Racing Engines (Pickering, ON), Ross Racing Pistons (who are supplying the team with durable custom made pistons), Contract Flooring, Goldmark Sanitation, Karbelt Speed Shop (Pickering) and Tin Knocker Sheet Metal (Whitby, ON). Driver Luis Custodio, who is a Facility Manager at the CN Tower in Toronto also receives valuable associate sponsorship from CN Tower. Custodio Racing Team is quick to thank the families of it's team members for their understanding and support during the time required to prepare and race the car.
