Dougs 1998 Pontiac Firebird is tuned by a lap top computer using Excel software. The car features a powerful and extremely reliable 350 CID engine (IHRA-rated at 325 HP) that was expertly built by Dave Lebrun at L&L Auto Machine in Groton, CT (860-445-8075). Power is transferred though an ATI converter and a John Hutchinson ultra-trick turbo 350 with a .275 first gear. (Hutchinson Transmissions, London, ON. 519-453-4318). The car rides on Centerline racing wheels and Phoenix race slicks. The Pontiac chassis was built by HIP Chassis (Perry Tremblay) and tuned by Mike Pustelny at MPR Chassis (Almont, MI). The body and paint is the handiwork of Steve Schrans at Silverbird Auto Refinishing (Putnam, ON).

Doug Box has been racing since he was 18-years old. He started his career in a 69 Chevelle which was converted from the street to a legal Stock eliminator car. Box also races that machine which features a 396/325 HP engine (also by Dave Lebrun) on a limited basis running it in G/Stock. The family run operation is a common sight on the local Southern Ontario drag racing scene as well as at regional national IHRA events.
Doug also races locally in the Can-Am Stock/Super Stock Series, which is sponsored by Wix Filters and Smith Performance Specialities. As well are racing in that circuit, Doug has been the Director of the thriving new series for the past five years.
