Eichler Racing debuted one of Canadas most unique dragsters later in the 1999 season -- the worlds first V-10 powered dragster. The team salvaged a 488 CID engine from Dodge 4x4 and bored it .60 over to 502 CID. The engine which was conceived and assembled completely in-house features numerous and extensive innovations. Many parts are custom built and one of a kind including the intake manifold, exhaust headers and valve covers. The ignition system features a unique application of two 5-cylinder Audi 5000 distributors, one for each side of the motor. The team employees dual Holley carburetors and pump gasoline to produce an estimated 660 HP. Comp Cams is responsible for the custom designed and ground camshaft.
Two years in the making, Eichler Racing now campaign the engine within the framerails of a durable 240 inch L&J Chassis (Hamilton, ON). Plans for the 2000 season include Pro Comp racing action within the Eastern Canadian drag racing scene. Future plans call for a bonafide V-10 Viper motor which will be alcohol burning.
Team owner Eric Eichler owns and operates the self funded team from his Eichler Racing facility which specializes primarily in high performance snowmobile and marine engine applications. Eric Eichler is a veteran drag racer of over 25 years and most recently campaigned a 67 Dodge Dart in Super Pro. Erics son Bob has taken over as team driver. Bob Eichler has been drag racing since his was 13 years old after earning his wings in the Junior Dragster category.
Valuable associate sponsorship for Eichler Racing is provided by Holley, JE Pistons, and Russell Performance.
