The Emes Team Racing, F.J. Smith Performance Specialties-built Chevy S-10 Pickup is new for 1999. Truck runs in GT/TA trim (NHRA index: 10.90 secs) utilizing a 350 CID powerplant, SMR Powerglide Transmission, Strange Rear and Axles, Auburn Gears, Phoenix Tires and Weld Wheels.
Award winning paint scheme (Neon Yellow, Kamelion Red to Blue and Tru Blu Pearl) and lettering was designed by Dan Delaney. Body assembly, preparation and paint application was by Q.R.S.. Chassis design, vehicle construction, wiring, drive train installation was by Smith Performance Specialties.
Emes Team Racing is a family run venture. Beth Emes (wife) is crew chief. Crew members are sons Stephen and Ken Emes along with Bob Roberts who is twin brother to Beth. Gene and Beth Emes are avid Hot Rodders. In addition to their drag racing truck they also own and maintain a 34 Ford , a 30 Model "A", a 56 Studebaker and a 70 Dodge Challenger.
Team will be extensively active on NHRA Federal Mogul tour in 1999. Scheduled NHRA national event stops at Gainesville, FL., Englishtown, NJ., Joliet, IL and Indianapolis, IN., will be supplemented by NHRA Division and Open races. Gene Emes will also participate within the UAP/Napa/Dana/Smith Performance Stock/Super Stock Series races held between Grand Bend Motorplex, St. Thomas Dragway and Cayuga International Dragway Park.
