Glen Stahle and his talented driver Richard Mowat are regarded as one of Eastern Canadas hardest running Super Stock racing teams. After joining forces in 1981 the duo have campaigned a number of successful NHRA class cars including a 71 Chevelle SS/FA, 67 Corvette SS/EA, and a 95 Camaro IROC GT/AA
Claims to fame include NHRA Divisional points race event wins at Cayuga, ON. and Martin, MI and a third place finish in NHRA Division 3 Super Stock points -- all in 1985. In 1978 Stahle himself won the Super Pro points championship and was named "Driver of the Year" at Cayuga. In 1979, in only his first time out in A/SM class trim, Stahle took a 69 Camaro to class runner-up during the prestigious U.S. Nationals at Indianapolis.
Glen Stahle debuted his newest machine during the 1999 season -- a Smith Performance Specialties-built 99 Pontiac Firebird. That car is powered by one of Stahles own 454 CID low compression powerplants which is rated at 370 HP. The engine features head work by Dave Lair (Heads Up Cylinder Heads) a Comp Valve Train, and G.M. Performance Parts rods and crankshaft.
A Turbo-Action 350 3-speed transmission and converter delivers power to Strange Engineering rear end and axles. The innovative team has built in flexibility to run the car in either GT/AA or GT/BA trim.
Stahles meticulously prepared new Firebird received almost immediate recognition -- he was awarded the prestigious "Best Engineered" during the cars debut race at Quaker City Dragway in Salem, Ohio in July of 1999.
Funding for the team is self-financed by Stahle who owns and operates Glenco Auto Repair Ltd., in Waterloo. There Stahle specializes in Corvettes and classic car repairs, carburetor rebuilding and high performance tune-ups.
Valuable associate backing comes from Pontiac Performance Cellar (Stoney Creek, ON) Competition Automotive
However the team is actively seeking major corporate partner in order to enhance its already successful racing program.
