Guy Desjardins is regarded as one of the province of Quebecs strongest running Super Stock racers. His wheelstanding 1967 Camaro is a familiar and popular site at Eastern Canadian and Northeast U.S. drag strips on both the NHRA and IHRA trail.
Desjardins has always raced in the Super Stock class. He got his start with a 1967 ragtop in 1972 and ran that car up until 1976. After that he took a leave of absence from the sport of drag racing during which he established and successfully built his own company E.D.F., which manufactures and installs heavy duty custom machinery. E.D.F. was established in 1978.
Desjardins returned to the sport he loved during the 1991 season and has run his meticulously prepared and clean looking Camaro in SS/GA and SS/FA ever since. Career highlights include a runner-up finish at the IHRA divisional points race at Epping, NH (in 1999) and a big feature race win at Napierville Dragway as a Super Pro car. Desjardins has also a number of strong runs during NHRA and IHRA national event competition to his credit including third round at both the NHRA Keystone Nationals and the IHRA Mopar Canadian Nationals.
The Guy Desjardins Camaro weighs 3260 lbs in SS/FA trim. Power comes from an engine that was assembled by Ohios David Layer (Heads-Up). The machining for the 396 CID shortblock was done by Pro-Moteur (Ste. Elizabeth, PQ). Rossler Transmissions prepared the Turbo 350 automatic transmission which delivers power to a Dana rear end equipped with 5:57 gears and Phoenix racing slicks.
