Ontario's Hishon Brothers are a perfect testament to how the sport of drag racing can help maintain close family ties. The Hishons (six in total) comprise one of Canada's most unique racing teams as they all contribute to the on and off track success of their popular Willys Coupe. The teams passion for motorsports in fact dates back nearly fourty years to when the car was first acquired. Incredibly the very same car is still active on Ontario drag strips albeit after a major evolution.

Originally the Hishon Brothers racecar was a typical A/G machine, featuring a straight axle and tilt forward front end. It was first acquired by Mike and Jack Hishon from fellow Canadian racers Gil McNorgan and Don Cassidy. The car was raced as a gasser from 1963-69 after which it sat in a garage for the next 20 years. In 1990 the car was rolled out after being totally rebuilt including a new chassis, 4-link suspension and strut front end. All design and fabrication was done in house by Mike Hishon. The team ran the car in Super Pro and Pro Comp eliminators. In 1998 they were the "Fast Doorslammer" track champion at London Motorsports Park. That same season they finished runner-up in final Top Sportsman season points at the Grand Bend Motorplex. They lost out on Grand Bend's track championship at the final event of the season to Canada's Carl Spiering.

Currently the Willys features a supercharged and methanol-burning 355 CID Chevrolet. That motor which was assembled completely in house produces an estimated 950 HP. The team employs a Littlefield 6-71 blower, custom built headers and a 2-speed Powerglide automatic transmission built by Hutch's Transmission Services (London).

Power is then delivered to a 4:10 rear end and ultimately to Phoenix slicks mounted on Weld Wheels.

The car which features expert paint by Dan and Nick Festoso (Can-Am Street Rods) has collected numerous "best appearing" awards. Primary sponsorship for Hishon Brothers comes from Jack Brooks at Dana (Canada). Associate backing comes from Hishons Sports Excellence (Stratford), Can-Am Street Rods (Stratford), Jim McCann, Honeywood Tire, Perth Auto Dismantlers, Woodcock Brothers Transportation Group and Blowes Racing.
