He started racing in 1971 with a 57 Chevy in E.T. semi-pro class. In 1973 he made the switch to Super Modified running C/SM with a 68 Nova and a powerglide. The following year he moved to the B/SM with a 69 Camaro.
In 1979, he bought the famous J/SA " Tons of fun " Pontiac Station Wagon of Charline Woods (The 1976 Molson Grandnational stock class winner). (This car was one of 500 special order cars built exclusively for Firestone and their sales representatives) and finished third in the provincial championship Stock class. In the winter of 1982-83, he devoted all his spare time building a 83 Pontiac Phoenix to run in the new Super Gas class. In 1985, Jacques finished runner-up at the Molson Grandnational with that car. He had a lot of success on the provincial dragstrip circuit with his Super Gas Pontiac Phoenix.
In 1994, he started building a 1995 Camaro with his great friend Ghislain Beaulieu to run Top Sportman, Quick Rod and Super Rod classes. This car is very, very, well build and you must take the time to look at this Pro Stock chassis/car construction.
Jacques couldn't made it without the precious support of his wife, Christiane Côté and his two children. You will also realise that he is very proud at promoting his sponsors : Autopro (UAP/NAPA) and Quaker State.
Jacques run on the Quebec, Ontario and the Northeast U.S. dragstrips to follow IHRA and NHRA events. Next time you meet him, take the time to salute this great gentleman.
