KENNY RACING runs a versitile drag racing program
that competes with identically prepared rear-engined dragsters
in NHRA Super Comp and IHRA Quick Rod and Top Dragster.
The Father & Son team combines Al Kenny's extensive racing
experience with the enthusiasm and natural driving ability
of his son, Jason. The identically prepared S&W Race Cars
4-link dragsters are equipped with the latest state-of-the-art
hardware and electronics. Running twin cars provides the team
with twice as much data compared to single car operations,
increasing the odds for success.
Both cars feature 230" wheelbases and are powered by alcohol
burning 505" BB General Motors powerplants prepared by D&D
Performance. The team uses powerglide transmissions and 9"
Ford rear ends. Banner sponsorship is provided by Landa Pressure
Washers with associate sponsorship coming from Jack Bowes
Auto Service (Kingston, ON).
During the 2001 season the team amassed an inviable record
of victories and late round finishes. Jason ended up 7th place
in NHRA Division 1 points and Al finished 11th place (out
of over 200 competitors!). The racing season was highlighted
by Al's huge national event win during the NHRA Advance Auto
Parts Southern Nationals near Atlanta in May -- his first
career NHRA national event title. Al followed that up with
strong quarter-final and semi-final round placings at Las
Vegas and the season ending AAA World Finals at Pomona.
The 2002 season campaign will see the team in competition
at some 25-30 NHRA and IHRA events spread out from Ontario
to Florida and California.
Al Kenny (team owner) is president & co-owner of Clean Ontario
/ Landa Pressure Washers, has over a quarter century experience
in Drag Racing dating back to the early 1970's. Al drove Top
Alcohol Dragsters from 1976 through the late 1980's. His best
finish in that class was runner-up honours to Dale Armstrong
at the 1977 Molson Grandnationals. He also served as a crew
chief on a Alcohol Funny Car for a few seasons in the 90's.
