The father and son team of Jeff and Art Lancaster are regarding as one of Canadas most promising up-and-coming alcohol Funny Car racers. They began competing their 1996 Pontiac Firebird during the 1999 season mostly in Canadian Drag Racing Series Quick 8 competition. The car which features a Hal Canode 125 chassis and a fiberglass body by Hairy Glass was formally raced by three-time NHRA Division champion George Etterman.
Lancaster Racing have stepped up their Funny Car class involvement and will concentrate on a full IHRA national event tour in 2000. In addition they have announced they will run select NHRA Division Three Federal Mogul Drag Racing Series events as well as a number of independent feature race programs at Eastern Canadian drag strips.
The team is buoyed by new higher horsepower components for this season. Their 527 CID TFX powerplant which features Brad Anderson Heads was assembled by Fred Mandoline. New for 2000 is a Bill Reichart designed fuel system and a Kobelco supercharger. Lancaster Racing are taking aim on their first career elapsed time in the five second zone.
Driver Jeff Lancaster is a veteran drag racer who first hit the strip at age sixteen. After graduating from Pro and Super Pro ET Bracket racing and a Super Comp dragster he began racing Top Alcohol Dragsters in 1995 where he ran a career best time of 6.22 secs. Lancaster switched to alcohol burning Funny Cars in 1998 when he acquired the former Jim Dunn Buick Reatta.
Lancaster Racing has landed Castrol GTX as its primary sponsor for its racing endeavors. Self-owned Kool Awnings and Tirecraft (of Burlington) are also major team backers.
