Adam Szelers Mad Mechanics team is regarded as one of Canadas best running independent Alcohol Funny Car teams. Known for his crowd pleasing burnouts and aggressive driving style, Szeler has been a popular choice for Eastern Canadian track owners for match race bookings over the past ten seasons.
The Mad Mechanics team currently campaigns a Gordys chassied 96 Olds Cutlass which was acquired from U.S. racer Chuck Cheeseman during the winter of 1998/99. A 526 CID Keith Black engine equipped with Veney cylinder heads prepared by Bob Newberry, a Littlefield supercharger and a Lenco 3-speed transmission are drivetrain highlights. Szeler has run career best elapsed times and speeds with this car in 1999.
A priority for Szelers team it to always provide the paying public with a good show and a clean appearing race car. Despite a limited racing budget the team has done remarkably well at multiple IHRA national event races -- consistently qualifying and surprising circuit regulars.
Largely independents, Mad Mechanics do receive some associate backing from Caspers Eatery (Richmond Hill), Exclusive Alarms (Etibocoke), Automatics Plus (Richmond Hill), Race-Start (Concord) Gladiator Landscaping (Richmond Hill), Competition Automotive (Richmond Hill) and Aviation Unlimited (Buttonville).
