Ken Mostowich is one of Albertas most recognized Sportsman drag racers. The General Manager of Moss Fabrication Ltd. (Calgary, AB) debuted his spectacular flip-top Don Davis-built Corvette Roadster during the 1999 season.
Powered by a 406 CID Chevrolet engine built by Kershaw Performance (Vancouver, BC), the 700 HP motor features Pontiac 15 degree cylinder heads, Eagle Rods, a Crower crankshaft, a Crane camshaft and a Barry Grant fuel system. Power for the 2250 lbs Corvette is applied through a A-1 Powerglide Transmission to a fabricated 9 rear end equipped with 4:86 gears.
The Corvette body is a one piece unit and the only Corvette roadster currently campaigned from Canada. The body features a design by reputed Canadian race car graphic artist Greg Ozubko. Lee Baron Collision (Calgary) applied the scheme using House of Colours candy paint.
Mostowich, who formally campagined 68 and 69 Camaros in ET bracket racing and a 75 Monza in Super Gas is best known as a three time champion on the Alberta Super Gas Association. He won consecutive titles between 1995-97. He earned his first NHRA Divisional at the Seattle points race in 1993. His best finish in NHRA national event competition came at the Pomona Winternationals in 1997 when he went to the 6th round. Moss Racing remains dedicated to winning its first NHRA national event.
Primary funding for the team comes from Mostowichs own company Moss Fabrication which manufactures turn key and highly portable oil field processing plants. Valuable associate backing is provided by Ronaco Industries, Kershaw Performance, Air Liquide and Lee Baron Collision.
