Scott Wildgust is regarded as one of Canadas top drag racing prospects for the future. He became involved in drag racing at age 13 as a crew member for his Uncle, Pro Comp/Top Dragster driver Jim McCann (Stratford, ON). He started his driving career in 1995 behind the wheel of a supercharged 240 inch L&J-chassied dragster. Wildgust enjoyed pheonomal success in that car -- in 1998 he won track championships in Pro Comp eliminator at both Grand Bend Motorplex and London Motorsports Park -- winning a total of nine events that season!
Wildgust Motorsports then built on their reputation by campaiging one of Canadas most revolutionary drag racing vehicles of all time. During the year 2000 they debuted a first for the sport of drag racing -- an outrageous Pro Outlaw-classed Plymouth Prowler which was a first of its kind. That Mike Spitzer-built car, which was sponsored by Fram, featured a supercharged and alcohol burning Chevrolet and was an instant fan favorite. Racing highlights in the Prowler included a couple of wins on the popular Northeaster "Hot Rods For Hell" circuit.
After selling the Powler, Scott in 2002 crossed over to the IHRA Alcohol Funny Car class driving a brand new Gordy's built 2002 Pontiac Firebird. That car is run extensively on the IHRA tour as well as at select match races. Power comes from a 518 CID Keith Black Hemi which is self-assembled by Wildgust Motorsports. That engine features a Kobelco supercharger, Veney cylinder heads, a Crane cam, JE pistons, and Hustler headers. Power is delivered through a Crower 10" 3-disc clutch to a Strange "top loader" rear end assembly. Important team components also include a MSD ignition system and a Race-Pak computer. The team's tuning consultant is Darren Maier from Kobelco.
Wildgust Motorsports has a strong family orientation with Scott's parents Chuck & Jan, wife Stacy and brothers Cody and Brayden all being heavily involved with the race team.
Sponsorship for Wildgust Motorsports comes from many valuable associates. That includes Die-Mond Machine & Tool (Stratford), Canada Trailers (Aylmer) Remax, J.S. Wild Auto & Trailer Sales, Gary Stockie Chevrolet/Oldsmobile/Cadillac, Erie Drive-In, Wix Canada, Outer-Limits Paint Ball, Mothers Polish, Clevite, Stratford Sign Works, Frank Kling Limited, and Fastpix.com
