Mike Etter emerged on the Canadian Alcohol Funny Car racing scene during the year 2001. Late in 2000 he acquired turnkey the entire FMFC operation last raced by Paton Racing. That included the 1997 S&W-chassied Pontiac Firebird Funny Car, race trailer and all support equipment. Since then Mike Etter has changed the car over for IHRA class racing. The car is powered by a 518 CID TFX engine equipped with Veney Heads which was assembled by Paton Racing. The team now employees a Kobelco supercharger equipped with a carbon fibre injector. Power is applied to a Crower clutch assembly, though a Lenco 3-speed transmission and ultimately to Hoosier Tires mounted on Centerline rims.

Mike Etter is not a new name to Canadas drag racing scene. In fact he has raced a series of cars since the mid 1970s. He got his start behind the wheel of a front-motored B/ED and then raced a rear-engined A/ED. His first Funny Car ride came between 1979-1982 when he campaigned a Chevy Vega that was formally owned by Frank Hawley. That former BB/FC was raced as an A/EA and went as quick as 9.22 secs. Mike Etter also had some limited seat time behind the wheel of a Nitro Funny Car. While living in Western Canada, he was a hired gun for Dave Korzans UAP Monza during the 1982 season. Mike recorded his career best lap in the car -- 6.008 secs and 243.00 mph. During the mid to late 1990s Mike Etter also owned and drove a 32 Bantam and 27 T Ford Roadster which race in Super Comp and Super Pro.

The Nerves of Steel Racing Team currently receives valuable associate sponsorship from Frontier R.V. (Orono, ON), Milton Transmission Services (Milton, ON), Portugal Auto Garage (Toronto), New Motor Queen City Automotive (Toronto) and Victory Racing Products (Paris, ON).

Mike Etter cites the valuable support and advice received from Paton Racing for his successful transition to Alcohol Funny Car racing.
