New Brunswicks Lobo Racing is a multi-dimensional drag racing team which is active in both IHRA and NHRA championship drag racing as well as local Eastern Canadian ET Bracket circuits. Team founder James Cowie is one of the Maritime Provinces most recognized drag racing names. His racing roots date back to 1972 and his racing resume is impressive including winning the Super Comp title at the 1991 NHRA Winston All-Stars event in Rockingham, NC and also the Quick Rod title during the IHRAs Northeast Nitrous Nationals at Epping, New Hampshire in 1994.
The present day Lobo Racing team consists of five machines. James Cowie wheels both a 2000 Undercover chassis dragster in 8.90 competition and a 1978 Chevrolet Corvette in 10.90 trim. His son Trevor made his driving debut during 2002 behind the wheel of the teams 1978 S&W Super Comp/Quick Rod car. Cowies youngest son Tyson is also being groomed for the future at the wheel of the teams Junior Dragster. Vito Bosca is the most recent addition to the team driving his 1985 Chevrolet Camaro in the Super Rod/Super Gas 9.90 class. Vitos wife Shiela acts as crew chief for the consistent running Camaro.
The Sportsman team does all of there own engine building and maintenance and effectively utilizes a full size tractor trailer to move all of its race cars at once from event to event.
