Born and raised Hamilton, Ontario, Ted Barnes now calls Caistorville home. He has been married to Cathy for 10 years and has two wonderful children, Cassidy 3 and Jack 2. Ted has a Bachelor of Science from the University of Guelph. Having worked in financial services since 1994, Ted is currently a Branch Manager with Niagara Credit Union and offers the best service youll get at any bank or financial institution!
Teds racing career all started back in 1987 at Dragway Park in Trophy class. Ran 19.50s in the very same Datsun 510, but with a 4 cylinder engine & manual transmission. From that point on, Ted was hooked the car began to evolve into a serious racecar by 1990.
Currently powered by a 383 Stroker SB Chevrolet built by Scott Conrada Crane roller valvetrain, Edelbrock aluminum heads and single 4 bbl Holley carb help create 474+ horsepower. The powerglide transmission, a Ford 9 rear with 4.56 gears and Goodyear Eagles get the power to the pavement. Dedenbear electronics along with a GRE throttle stop help keep the car dialed in on 10.90.
Performance Improvements (Canada's leading retailer of performance parts and accessories for domestic and imported cars and trucks) has been a part of the team since the beginning. Other assistance comes from: Gilmore & Associates Building Contractors, Scott Conrad Racing Engines, F&M Signs, Top Quality Transmission, Steel City Spring, Chadwick Electric, Pennzoil, Autometer, MSD, RCI and Crane Cams.
After 4 track championships in Super Pro / Top ET1992 & 1993 at London Motorsports Park2000 & 2001 at Dragway Park Cayuga, the team looked for something different. So the car was set up to run IHRAs Hot Rod (10.90) class in 2001...Currently competing whenever possible. The team earned their biggest win yet while attending only their 4th national event ever they won the Hot Rod (10.90) class during the 2003 AC Delco Canadian Nationals at Toronto Motorsports Park.
