Klomps Racing are a family orientated Sportsman drag racing team which are highly active on the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series as well as select NHRA and IHRA national event circuits.

Originally founded by Bill Klomps, the father to sons Jeff and David, Bill has since turned over all the driving chores to his sons during the 2002-racing season. Earlier in his drag racing career Bill Klomps was active during the mid 1970’s on the Southern Ontario drag racing scene campaigning a ’67 Camaro ET-1 car at St. Thomas Dragway, (the old) Toronto International Raceway and at Cayuga Dragway Park. Bill in fact took a 17-year hiatus from the sport to raise his family before retuning back to action in the mid 1990’s.

Klomps racing currently campaigns three racecars. Jeff Klomps drives the team’s Advanced Chassis Super Comp dragster, which is powered by a 565 CID engine built by Gary Stinnett. Jeff also races a ’02 Corvette Roadster in Super Gas. A 540 CID engine by Scott Shafiroff powers that car, which is also and Advanced Chassis. David Klomps, who began his driving career in 2003, wheels the race team’s Oldsmobile Cutlass, also in Super Gas. David’s car too is powered by a 540 CID Scott Shafiroff motor.

Despite being relative newcomers to the sport the second-generation drivers have already earned significant notoriety on the NHRA circuit. Jeff Klomps was in fact the low qualifier over a massive Super Gas field during the 2003 edition Mac Tools U.S. Nationals at Indy. At that race he carded no less then two perfect 9.900 secs times while earning a prestigious Strange Engineering “Perfectly Strange” award. During 2004 the team has earned two major event wins. They won the highly reputed LODRS event at Indianapolis in April and followed that up with their first ever NHRA national event title – taking Super Gas at May’s O’Reilly Thunder Valley Nationals at Bristol.

The team logs many thousands of KMs each season with plans to attend some 15-16 events in 2004 while chasing NHRA divisional and national points.

Klomps Racing is independent, with funding coming from the team’s farming business: Creston Farms. Valuable associate sponsorship comes from Ken Bowers at Advanced Chassis.
