British Columbia's LoweDown Racing is one of Canada's most reputed and widely known Pro Modified racing teams. Dave Lowe(crew chief) and Trevor Lowe(Driver), who have owned and operated Fraser Valley Vending for 35 years, have been a self-sustaining independent race team most of their careers. The father and son team, with long time friend Bernie Duncan(co-crewchief), first hit the Pro Mod circuit in 1991, are recognized as true Pro Modified pioneers having been in existence longer then any other Canadian team.
Racing their supercharged '57 Chevy, the trio reached legendary status during the mid-late 1990's when they dominated action within the popular West Coast Pro Modified Association, scoring some 20 event wins and taking season points titles in both 1995 and 1998. That highly durable car, which featured an Alston chassis and a motor by legendary Jim Oddy, frequently set track records and was raced up until the 2004 season. Incredibly their fan favorite 1957 Chevy replica had in excess of 700 runs in the six seconds zone at over 200 mph! They plan to nostalgia race it in the future.
In 2005 the Lowe Down team add more depth and speed with experienced team members Gary Teichrob (clutch/computer) and Kelowna Race car builders Ryan Hinrichsen, Bob Betts and Rick McCloed Their 1968 Camaro project is a co-operative effort of all the team members. The team's primary sponsors are RH Race Cars (Kelowna), Rutland Auto (Kelowna), TYCROP Manufacturing (Rosedale) & Jet Tools (Surrey).
During the 2006 racing season Lowedown Racing debuted the spectacular new '68 Camaro which was expertly designed and constructed by Ryan Hinrichsen & Bob Betts (RH Race Cars - Kelowna BC)along with Rick McCloed. The Camaro, which features a double frame railed chassis, receives it's motivation from a 526 CID Alcohol-burning Alan Johnson Chevrolet assembled by Lowedown Racing & Built by Atchison Machine Services,World champion funny car racer Robbie Atchison (London, ON.) Other key components include a PSI supercharger,East/West clutch, Lenco transmission, a Mark Williams modular rear end assembly and extensive use of Simpson Safety equipment.
Despite limited appearances in it's first season, the new Camaro had some solid success including a Super Chevy circuit win at Pomona (in it's debut race!) as well as a NHRA National Open victory at hometrack Mission Raceway winning the team its first Wally.
The team will focus this season on the West Coast Pro Modified Association circuit but will also run some match races as will select IHRA national and Super Chevy events.
