Kirk Silbermann, who is the founder and owner of reputed engine building facility Ajax Engines (Ajax, ON), debuted his latest drag racing project during the 2006 season. His spectacular and potential ridden ’57 Chevy is ably driven by versatile drag racing driver Scott Wildgust, whose driving resume previously included Top Dragsters and Alcohol Funny Cars.

The ’57 Chevy, while making only limited appearances in a test mode last year, is now on the verge of improved performances. The car features a McAmis blueprint chassis which was expertly assembled by LowDown Hot Rods (Cambridge, ON) and then finessed by G-Force Race Cars (Tonawanda, NY). Power comes from a 526 CID Brad Anderson Hemi which was assembled by Ajax Engines. That alcohol burning powerplant features a SSI supercharger, ERD Fuel system, Knot injector, JPC connecting rods, JE Pistons and Crane camshaft. Other important driveline components include an AFT clutch assembly, air-shifted 3-speed Lenco transmission and a Mark Williams rear end. The Ajax Engines/NitroMoose.ca Chevy utilizes Goodyear tires mounted on Weld Wheels and a complete safety system by Stroud.

The ’57 Chevy is not Kirk and Maria’s first venture into the ranks of Pro Modified racing. Beginning in 1999, the team campaigned for 3 seasons a popular ’41 Willy Coupe that was formally owned by Gary Irving. With Doug Hearsum behind the wheel, that supercharged machine had a best run of 6.36 secs at 219.80 mph. Prior to that Kirk himself traces his racing roots back to 1989 and driving experience in Super Gas, Super Comp and Top Sportsman.

Primary funding for the team comes from Ajax Engines and the current associate sponsorship list includes NitroMoose.CA, J.S. Wild Trailers Sales, ERD Engines, Mobil 1, and The Trailer Shop (Ron Spiering).

The team will focus on a full season of PMRA action in 2007 as well as some limited IHRA national event appearances that will include both events scheduled for Ontario.
