VP’S M3 METHANOL—A SERIOUS PERFORMANCE PART
SAN ANTONIO, TX (May 29, 2007) – VP Racing Fuels, Inc., an industry leader in the manufacture of racing fuels and performance products, has introduced a new enhanced formula for methanol. Called “M3,” it contains combustion and lubrication additives that make more power than standard methanol and promises numerous other benefits. “M3 is simply a better me thanol for racing,” said Steve Burns, VP’s President and Director-R&D. “It makes more power than any standard methanol on the market, primarily due to improved vaporization and faster burning speed. Both improve the thermal efficiency of the air/fuel mixture and with a wi der acceptable range of air/fuel ratio, the range of ignition is enhanced leading to more consistent performance. M3’s lubrication additive helps seal the rings, also yielding more power—overall, up to a 50 hp gain in a 1030 hp engine. The improvement in throttle response is also substantial–we’ve seen a 5% increase in torque across a wider rpm range.”
M3 will perform great in drag racing and circle track, according to Burns. “M3 is not pure methanol and won’t pass a water test. For 60-70% of all applications, it won’t require jetting or timing changes—just pour it in and get up to 5% more Hp. In the other 30-40%, proper jetting changes will yield the same performance improvement. Not only will its better vaporization and faster burn rate make more power, they’ll offer better p rotection against detonation. In addition to its lubrication additives, M3 includes an anticorrosion package, so there’s no need to add anything else to address lubrication or corrosion issues. If you’re not bound by fuel rules, there’s no reason to use anything else.”
“An important secondary benefit of M3’s increased combustion rate is a 75% reduction in the formation of aldehyde emissions,” Burns continued. “These include formic acid and formaldehyde, the components in standard methanol fumes that cause the burning sensation to the eyes and nose. I personally used M3 in a full bodi ed car and was very surprised at the difference in the smell, and it was so much easier on my eyes. This has been confirmed over and over by other racers who have used it. “
“One of the things racers count on with any of VP’s methanol products is consistency in production and packaging,” Burns added. “VP’s M1 Methanol set the standard for years with 99.8+% purity and lined drums. Customers never have to fear contamination. So much of the cheap methanol you see is reclaimed from industrial processes and contains who knows how many contaminants. VP doesn’t cut corners or ‘reclaim’ methanol like some competitors who yield to the pressure for lower prices. We won’t even go there. To our customers, that might mean slightly higher prices, but they can also trust our product. They won’t be chasing a ‘bad ignition’ for a month, only to find out their problem was bad fuel.”
