JET Equipment and Tools Announces Racing Sponsorships for 2007
Bill Jeffery - June 10, 2007

JET Equipment and Tools Ltd., based in Burnaby, British Columbia, is pleased to make the following announcements regarding product sponsorships on these high profile Canadian race teams for 2007. JET is a leading supplier of professional tools and equipment to the Canadian market, with branches in Vancouver, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Toronto, Montreal and Dartmouth. JET’s one-stop shop of products include a full line of hand tools, air tools, specialty automotive tools, abrasives, cutting tools, material handling equipment, machinery as well as Canada’s leading brand of hydraulic lifting equipment, STRONGARM.

Over the past 7 years JET has partnered with several of Canada’s leading drag racing teams chasing a variety of categories in both the NHRA and IHRA Championship series.

Carl “Big Dog” Spiering – Ontario, Canada
Carl Spiering has become one of Canada’s favorite drag race teams in recent years. Fans and competitors alike have come to respect and appreciate both the professionalism and approachability of this outstanding Pro Mod team from Ontario. Sponsored by the giant Eaton’s Cutler Hammer group, Carl’s team can be seen chasing the entire IHRA Pro Mod schedule (including three races in Canada), as well as other major Pro Mod races in Canada, towing as far as the famed Mission Raceway Park in British Columbia to attend the West Coast Pro Mod race there.

This team has proven time and again that they can compete with the best. They have been a contender for the IHRA Pro Mod series championship almost every year they have raced, winning several National events along the way. In 2006, they were the most consistent Pro Mod team on the circuit. In addition, they shocked the category by running a very stout 6.03 e.t. pass at the Mission event in June of 2006.

In 2007, Carl has decided to pull back from chasing the IHRA championship and will focus on attending as many Canadian Pro Mod events as possible. His gorgeous black and blue ’68 Pro Mod Camaro will be seen at several Ontario events as well as the Edmonton Rocky Mountain Nationals and the Eaton Cutler Hammer event in Mission in June.

Kenny Lang Racing – Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada
Kenny Lang is definitely one of the up and comers in Pro Mod racing. Kenny’s ’53 Blown Corvette has proven right from the start to be a serious contender in the tough IHRA Pro Mod category, including a runner-up position at the Edmonton Rocky Mountain Nationals in 2006 and one of the first National events in 2007. The team will be racing at all IHRA National events, including the three races in Canada as well as the West Coast Pro Mod event in Mission, B.C.

Rush Hour Racing – Edmonton, Alta., Canada
John Evanchuck is the owner and driver of the Red Wolf/Big Eagle Hydro-Vac Alcohol Funny Car out of Edmonton. The car has one of the most beautiful and outstanding paint schemes and has been featured in numerous papers and magazines. John has won several major races in the West and holds at least one track record as well. They will be stepping up their race operations in 2007 in an attempt to visit the winners circle more often. John has been a long time drag racer, having piloted Top Fuel Dragsters and Funny Cars in the ‘70s and Alcohol Funny Cars in the ‘90s and beyond.

Paul Julien Motorsports – Mission, B.C., Canada
Paul Julien has owned and driven his Top Alcohol Dragster since the beginning of the new millennium. During that time, he has quickly established himself as a serious Canadian contender in the NHRA Division 6 Pacific Northwest. Until recently, the team held the distinction of being Western Canada’s quickest TAD at 5.43 seconds. He has also won such races as the prestigious NHRA National Open at Mission Raceway Park.

The year 2007 will see some changes to the team. Ken Douglas has stepped up as the primary owner and will be in the drivers seat this year. Paul and his able crew will remain working on the car and performing the tuning duties at all events.

Lowe Down Racing – Agassiz, B.C., Canada
Dave and Trevor Lowe’s ’57 Chevy has been a fixture on the West Coast for many years. They have previously won the West Coast Pro Mod Association championship and are always a threat at every event they attend. In 2006, they partnered with RH Race Cars out of Kelowna, B.C. in fielding a beautiful new 1968 Camaro Pro Mod race car powered by an Atchison built blown Chevy engine. In their first outing at the 2006 Super Chevy show in Pomona, California, they team took home the trophy! They continued to be a threat at all of the events they attended last year

The team plans to contend for the WCPM title in 2006 and will be attending all of the West Coast Pro Mod events including the big Eaton’s Cutler Hammer Pro Mod event at Mission in June. They will also attend the IHRA National Event in Edmonton, Alberta.

Friesen Motorsports – Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada
This team made its Top Alcohol Funny Car debut in 2006. Sponsored by Nobel Smile (suppliers of a new teeth whitening process), they have assembled a group of veteran racers including former NHRA Division 6 Champion driver Roger Bateman and tuner Ken Murray, both of Calgary, Alberta. As a result, the team made an immediate impact on the sport, clinching 9th spot overall in the very competitive NHRA National circuit in 2006. They have traveled extensively, racing National events from Florida to Las Vegas and have been a threat at every event.

This year the team is on the road again, sporting a new paint job and flying the Nobel Smile.Com banner in an attempt to improve on their 2006 season. They have the funding, determination and talent to achieve another successful campaign in 2007.

Tim Nemeth Racing – Chilliwack, B.C., Canada
Since entering the fast paced world of Top Alcohol Funny Car racing in 2000, Tim Nemeth arrived as a true contender in 2006. Each year, Tim has made constant improvements and upgrades to his self funded funny car team, hiring the likes of Steve Boggs and Jimmy Rector for tuning advice and adding better equipment to his arsenal. In 2006, the team achieved a solid 7rd place finish in the very tough NHRA Division 6 Top Alcohol category.

Tim continues to make improvements to his race operations in 2007. He has recently acquired a new hauler for the car along with other upgrades to the car itself. In addition, Tim plans to debut a nostalgia AA/FC to race at nostalgia events in the Pacific Northwest.

Canada West Door Slammers Association
For several years, JET has been a proud series sponsor of the exciting Canada West Door Slammer Association. This independent series was developed to provide a competitive venue for the growing number of very fast “door” cars in the Pacific Northwest. Since its inception, the number of participating cars has continued to rise and the times and speeds just get faster and faster! There are a number of 6 second contenders on the circuit today with more on the way. Known for their wild burnouts, these cars, like their Pro Mod big brothers, have become crowd favorites wherever they appear.

JET Equipment and Tools Ltd. is proud to be the tools of choice for these exceptional Canadian race teams. We wish all of them well during the 2007 racing season. We congratulate each of them for fostering the same hard work, focus and passion to their race operations as JET does at being “Canada’s Driving Force for Tools”.
